Your Wedding Day
Barnston Lodge is a dry-hire venue, meaning you start with a completely blank canvas and can be as creative as you like. Jane, the venue owner, is here on hand to give as much or as little help with your preparations as you’d like. We always emphasise that your day is designed by you, meaning a unique reception with no corkage fee or overpriced catering rates.
Alternatively, if you’d like a small and simple day, we hope you enjoy soaking up the beautiful grounds with your closest friends and family.
Sadly we do not have a licence to host legal ceremonies, but we welcome couples to have blessings and other celebrations at Barnston. We also have a country church a two-minute walk away, and registry office within 20 minutes drive. Following your ceremony, we will be here to greet you and your guests and give you exclusive hire of our gardens, lake and summer house.
The Space Is Yours
At Barnston Lodge, we offer our beautiful grounds exclusively to you for the entire day. This means no sharing your special day with another wedding in close proximity. It also means you have our undivided attention to ensure that your wedding is made to be the best day of your life. You can count on us to coordinate suppliers, helping with car parking, leading the photographer to our favourite spots and anything else you need! Enjoy your bespoke wedding as a day that truly reflects you both as a couple.
The Grounds
The beautiful Georgian country house setting is the perfect backdrop and looks fantastic in all your wedding photos. With onsite parking and wheelchair access, the grounds are available to hold a stunning marquee or tipi, catering tent, food trucks and even the occasional fairground carousel! Nestled among this vast green space is a large lake that is ideal to take in a moment of peace. This tranquil spot features a picturesque jetti and tables and chairs carved from wood and is the perfect setting for a photo opportunity of you as newlyweds.
Also available is ‘The Brew House’ – a small and shabby-chique summer house with large open fire and sofas for anyone who wishes to retire from the dancefloor. We set up a tea and coffee station and light the fairy lights to create a warm and welcoming glow.
The Church
Situated a stone’s throw away from Barnston Lodge is a stunning and ancient church, that has been in use since the 1100s. It is one of the few churches in England to include a barrel organ, which fills the whole church with beautiful rich music. The quaint church is a two minute walk away down a meandering country lane, making it perfect to host the ceremony before wandering back to Barnston Lodge for your reception.
