Our Venue

As a dry hire wedding venue, Barnston Lodge is a blank canvas for your creativity. You get full access to our beautiful venue, giving you complete freedom to design every detail exactly how you want. From hand-picked marquees, sailcloths and tipis, down to your favourite food, drink and entertainment, dry hire lets you build a wedding that’s truly yours. Jane, who owns and runs Barnston Lodge, is our in-house wedding coordinator who can help you with all the decision making – so that it’s a fun and not-so-daunting process. We also have a cracking supplier’s list in case you need somewhere to start.

Barnston Lodge has been a family-run farm for a long time, passing through the generations. Over the years, we’ve transformed it into something truly special. It all started over ten years ago, after hosting a variety of family weddings for siblings, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Re-imagining our home into a warm and welcoming venue brought great joy to all at Barnston, and it wasn’t long before we decided to carry on hosting weddings for anyone who wanted a laid back country house wedding.

Access to us could not be better – with the M11, M25, A120 and A130 on our doorstep. In close proximity to Chelmsford, Stansted Airport, London and Cambridge, this wedding venue is a convenient journey for all your guests. Overnight accommodation is always local with over 100 rooms available within a five mile radius.
