Wedding Trends 2025
It’s officially 2025 and we can see some exciting new wedding trends hitting this year and beyond. Of course, it goes without saying that your wedding day should reflect you as a couple rather than adhere to any trends, but after a variety of weddings in 2024 we can see that there are some great ideas that will stick around in 2025.

After the pandemic, weddings seem to have shifted away from the impersonal destination weddings, with a growing consensus to tie the knot in rustic, outdoor venues that allow freedom and creativity for couples to do what they like. Weddings abroad are still popular – what’s not to love about guaranteed sunshine?! But many people these days tend to choose venues that are accommodating and accessible to family and friends, as well as more personable to their own styles and preferences.
2024 saw an incredible variety of weddings at Barnston Lodge and couples were as expressive and creative as ever. From confetti ponies and balloons spilling out of the windows in a Tim Walker-inspired vision, to African animals standing large and proud inside a tipi, our couples have really added their own touches and had fun with their preparations.
Photography trends
Candid snaps and documentary-feel photography and videography are still going to be popular in 2025, and the desire for film photography continues to grow. But a new trend set to become more popular in 2025 is the role of the content creator.
These individuals work alongside your photographer and/or videographer, capturing content that is not necessarily achieved by the photographer. This is mostly because the photographer and videographer will spend most of the day capturing the professional shots, whilst the content creator can focus on your guests and some ‘behind the scenes’ footage t00.
Film photography has been on the rise over the last few years, starting with polaroid cameras, which then re-popularised disposable and 35mm vintage film cameras. As expected, we are seeing this trickle into the wedding industry, with couples asking their photohgraphers to capture their day in both analogue and digital. Whilst the analogue option may seem unpredictable (not being able to see how the images look until they are developed), they provide a nostalgic quality and capture the intimacy of your big day and the small moments that feel timeless.
On a similar note, documentary style videographers are expecting to continue their popularity in 2025. We always love watching couples’ wedding videos, and those that provide a documentary style provide their couples with a candid replay of their day.
Dress styles

This year sees timeless and daring silhouettes, with drop waists and corset tops. Vintage styles tailored to each brides’ personal preference, with flower embroidery and ruffle detail. In addition, there has been an increased preference for beautiful laced veils and embroidered veils. With this being said, wear exactly what you want on your day – your day is all about what you want!
Cakes to outdo the 70s

Fun, colourful and indulgent wedding cakes are still in – and more is more for 2025. Think heart shaped sponges, bows and cherries, 70s and 80s vibes.

We think that 2025 will be full of colour and chaos with no colour palettes to rule the day. In the last few years we’ve seen couples move away from rigid colour schemes and floral patterns and can see this continuing this year. Mismatched tables and decorations as well as floristry and bridesmaid dresses.
At Barnston Lodge, couples are able to decorate as they see fit, and we love seeing how couples decorate our venue to their own personal taste – leaning on talented family members and a can do attitude to bring ideas to life.
Painted Portraits

A move away from the classic photobooths, in 2025 we’re predicting a rise in live wedding sketchers, painting portraits of each guest. These are often done quickly, but leave a powerful impact, with each guest able to take away a sweet memento of the day.
We can’t wait to see what this year brings around in terms of style and creativity. Each wedding we have at Barnston is totally different from the last which makes our jobs fun and energetic, always.
